Blackstone Motors sponsor two new cars for Cavan GAA
Blackstone Motors in Cavan stepped up to the sponsorship plate in a major way this week when the car dealership sponsored two new Renault cars for the Cavan Senior team management, Mickey Graham and Dermot McCabe.
A Renault Megane was presented to Mickey Graham and they keys of a Renault Kadjar were handed over to Dermot McCabe by the dealer principal of Blackstone Motors, Alan O'Neill.
When asked why Blackstone became associated with the Cavan Team, Alan O'Neill explained: “Renault in general have a big affiliation with the GAA at present - we are now delighted to be on board with Cavan GAA and sponsoring the management team with two cars.”
Super 8s
“In the Super 8's the cream has really come to the top with Dublin, Tyrone and Kerry already through – the last big game is Donegal and Mayo – that should be a humdinger. It will be interesting to see who wins and then we should end up with the top four teams in the county in the semi-finals”.
On the look-out for talent
Dermot McCabe said they have put a list together with a view to attending as many games in the coming months as possible in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Championships.
“We want to nurture new talent and endeavour to get new players to freshen up the squad at all times,” he said.
Season Review
“We recently meet the players to have our season review, to see where we can improve and progress things for next season."
He went on to explain: “The lads expect a high standard and we all expect a high standard – they really work hard and commit a lot of time to this. So, they want to try and do it right. We are happy with some of the things that happened in this season and we know there is lots of stuff we can improve on and we will try and do that in the seasons ahead.”
The regional manager of Blackstone Motors is Sean Pearson, He revealed that 25 people are now employed at Blackstone in Cavan. “We are big sports enthusiasts here at Blackstone – we have kit vans with Drogheda and Dundalk and we have sponsored cars with the Louth Ladies. The GAA and sport in general is in a good place in this country at the moment.
“We are very humbled to be involved with Mickey Graham and Dermot McCabe, who both gave such service to Cavan football down the years this is only a small token on our behalf to give them a dig along and get an Ulster Championship in the not too distant future – that is the aim.”
