Yellow Warning for thunder issued

National weather service Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow thunder warning taking in part of the region, along with reporting a risk of heavy rainfall and spot flooding in some areas overnight.

“Localised thunderstorms are expected today and for a time tonight which will bring short duration heavy rainfall and the risk of spot flooding,” Met Eireann says, with specific reference to Leinster, Monaghan and Waterford.

The warning came into effect at 11am on Saturday morning and will remain in place until 3am on Sunday, 22 September.
