One Day comes to the Ramor Theatre on Saturday

A day like all others creates drama like no other

An award winning experimental theatre show involving a trio of performers - an actor, a writer/director and a drummer, comes to the Ramor Theatre this weekend.
Written by Richard Walsh and James Moran 'One Day' received rave reviews when it was first staged at Dublin Fringe Festival in 2018. The show is a look at a single day's news and a meditation on the link between power and knowledge.
Three years in the making, a director, an actor, and a drummer are attempting to encapsulate a day that was reported in over 3 million articles worldwide. Taking an article on the Occupy Movement as its starting point, the show looks at topics as disparate as the Afghan War, the Spanish Economy, and Arsenal Football Club.
The show examines our unravelling and chaotic relationship with news outlets and the media in general. While it's experiemntal in nature, it's billed as an accessible and timely piece; a wake for our shared understanding of what's happening in the world today.
The show received four stars from The Irish Times, describing it as “an absorbing experiment, both arch and obsessional”.
One Day was nominated for best performance and best production at Dublin Fringe where it was first staged in September 2018. The show is co-produced by Walsh’s long-time collaborators, Pan Pan Theatre.
Richard Walsh has been making theatre for over a decade.
His work is principally interested in oral culture, speech patterns and performance. Walsh uses theatre to explore the complexity of ideology, and the points where ideology begins to crumble as a clearly defined entity.

One Day runs at The Ramor Theatre on Saturday, September 28 at 8pm. Booking at The Ramor Theatre or (049) 8547074 or www.ramortheatre.com
