Motorists advised to exercise caution after storm

Though the anticipated storm conditions of Lorenzo may not have lived up to expectations the resultant weather conditions have caused difficulties on roads around the county. Heavy rainfall has posed a hazard on many of the counties thoroughfares.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when driving in the wet conditions. Cavan Fire Service were on duty this morning dealing with flooded roads. Drivers have been asked to be aware that there may be areas of flooding on rural roads.

Meanwhile ESB Networks are dealign with an outage near Cavan town which has left 12 homes without power. The outage was active from 10:00am this morning, and it is expected to be resolved by 12:00noon.

The electricity infrastructure company said: “We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible.”
