120 new jobs at Liberty Insurance in Cavan

Cavan town is set for a major jobs boost as Liberty Insurance announced they are to create 120 jobs over the next three years. The company is recruiting for new staff in the areas of administration, support work and management.

The insurer employs 143 in Cavan and today’s news means they will almost double that number.

Liberty has established a new motor insurance claims servicing function in Cavan to help support Liberty Mutual's global business.

This will handle appraisal work for motor claims from the US, including expanding use of photo estimations to expedite the claims process for customers there. The expansion is being supported by IDA Ireland.

Speaking on the announcement the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, said she was delighted to see Liberty expands its local presence: “The company has a strong connection to the county, and it is very positive to see them building on this further.

“The creation of these new jobs is a great vote of confidence in what the local area has to offer in terms of talent, location and quality of life for employees. I met with members of the senior team earlier this week, and they told me that they are particularly impressed by the rich pool of talent living locally. I was delighted to hear this, although I was not surprised."

The Minister said the announcement is timley: “Companies in the border region, both indigenous and foreign-owned, need every support with Brexit on the horizon, and the Government is committed to giving them that support. I have no doubt that today’s announcement will be welcomed by all those living in the local area.”

Fine Gael Senator Joe O’Reilly said the announcement comes as a result of diligent efforts: “The Government has been working hard to make the border region an attractive and competitive location in which to do business, and that work is paying off. The announcement will come as a boost to the Cavan town and the surrounding area. It will also provide more local jobs for people who want to work where they live.”
