All shook up in Tullyvin

What happens when you cross Elvis with Shakespeare? Head along to Tullyvin Musical Society's musical 'All Shook Up' this week to find out - they promise to have you jumping out of your blue suede shoes, writes Gemma Kettle.
Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and brimming with Elvis Presley's classic hits, the high energy and colorful show is sure to enthrall audiences when it runs from this Wednesday, October 16 through to Saturday, October 19.
The 'All Shook Up' show is energising the talented members of Tullyvin Musical Society and they are eager to producing entertaining performances each night. The cast features a sprinkling of performers from near and far for good measure. Chad and Natalie are played by Liam Wallace and Aoife Shalvey, and they are accompanied by other principals and a large ensemble, all of whom seamlessly perform Elvis classics, complimented by numerous energetic dance numbers throughout the two acts. The show boasts a live orchestra and is complimented by an amazing set.
The drama unfolds in 1955, when into a square little town in a square little state, rides a guitar-playing young man, who changes everything and everyone he meets. This hip-swivelling, lip-curling musical features all-time favourite Elvis hits such as ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, ‘Hound dog,’ ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘Don’t be cruel’.
With a creative team consisting of Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) All-Ireland award winning Director Paul Norton, and Ballybay locals, Tomasina McGinnity (Choreographer and Chorus Mistress) and Noel Lennon (Musical Director), the ‘All Shook Up’ will be surefire fun for rock ‘n roll rebels of all ages.
“Working with this cast this year has been so much fun and craic, and nothing has been a problem with them – with phenomenal leads and an incredibly strong and hardworking chorus, All Shook Up is set to be an amazing run,” says choreographer Tomasina McGinnity.
A huge team is also involved behind the scenes with stage crew, props, costumes, set, front of house and advertising - so nothing is being left to chance.

The Society
Tullyvin Musical Society (TVMS) is now in its fourth year, and this is surely the busiest to date, between fundraising, travelling to other shows, participating in events like Cootehill’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and formulating this show.
The group also ran a workshop with St. Aidan’s TY year in Cootehill and has attended and supported many other events since then including charitable fundraisers.
They were nominated for a Pride of Place award, participated in the AIMS awards in Killarney, and took part too in the Cootehill Arts Festival and more recent Taste of Cavan event.
‘All Shook Up’ runs from Wednesday, October 16 right through until Saturday, October 19, nightly at 8pm in Tullyvin Community Centre. Tickets €18 and available from Eventbrite.ie or from any cast member.
