WEATHER: Mixed bag of sun and showers

Today will be dry in many areas with sunny spells, although there'll be some passing showers also. Highest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees with light, west to northwest breezes.

Early tonight will be cold and dry with frost and some icy patches developing. Rain will develop in the west of the province early in the night and will spread eastwards, falling as sleet in places. It will clear overnight with further outbreaks of rain or sleet following from the west towards morning. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of showery rain through the day. The showery rain will clear northeastwards by early evening. Highest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees with fresh northwest breezes.
