DJ at dawn for suicide awareness

A Cavan DJ has taken to the fields since early morning (Saturday) in support of this year’s Darkness Into Light Sunrise Appeal today, May 9.

Alan Brady, better known as DJ Alli B, is performing an outdoor sunrise set at Ballaghanea near Virginia to raise funds and awareness around suicide prevention and self-harm.

“With the Darkness into Light walks not happening, there are lots of people still looking to get involved, so this is my little contribution,” he told the Celt this week.
Neighbours were forewarned about Alan setting up his decks and speakers on the family farm from 5am with a livestream also set to be broadcast online.
“The cows and the crows will be looking on, that’s about it. I’m setting up in a field at the back of my house, and we’re going to set it up so the sunrise will be behind me,” explains Alan.
His usual DJ residencies include venues such as the Palace in Navan, Copper Face Jacks in Dublin, Brady’s in Maynooth, DNA in Galway, Karma in Athlone, as well as The Stores in Wexford, Sally’s in Omagh, and the Castle in Westport.
Already Alan has raised more than three quarters of his €1,500 fundraising target.
He also hopes to create a buzz in advance of the event by taking requests in the coming days.
The event can be watched live here on his Facebook page DJ Alli B Official, where visitors also have an opportunity to donate.
