Work to repair burst water main in Mullagh

Irish Water and Cavan County Council are working to repair a burst main in Mullagh.

Customers in Lisnahederna, Crossbane, Killiter, Mullagh Village and surrounding areas have had their water supply impacted as a result of the burst.

It is expected that the repairs will be completed by 8pm later today, Thursday, May 28.

However, Irish Water say some customers may not receive a full water supply for a further two to three hours while water returns to the network.

Alternative water supplies are available at Crossreagh National School and Mullagh Heritage Centre.

“While Irish Water makes every effort to ensure that the alternative drinking water supply provided including the tanker/bowser and dispensing tap are adequately disinfected, as a precautionary measure anyone who obtains water from the alternative supply for consumption is advised to boil the water before use,” a spokesperson said.

Irish Water would also like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.

“Irish Water is working at this time, with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services,” the spokesperson added.

Irish Water customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also contact on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.
