Over €110K in funding for community enhancement in Cavan and Monaghan

Funding of €112,476 has been allocated to enhance facilities in urban and rural communities across Cavan and Monaghan.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys confirmed the funding in the last few minutes under the Government's Community Enhancement Programme.

Some €57,025 has been allocated for County Cavan and €55,451 for Monaghan.

The Fine Gael TD for Cavan Monaghan said: “The funding will provide capital grants to community groups to improve amenities in disadvantaged areas to help them improve their facilities.

“The programme supports small-scale funding for projects, which range from purchasing lawnmowers and IT equipment to minor renovations to buildings. Ultimately, the Programme responds to local needs and therefore it also provides some funding towards larger projects where needed."

Deputy Humphreys expressed a hope the funding would help groups to continue the important work that they carry out within society.

“I would urge communities in the local area to familiarise themselves with the programme and apply for funding if they feel that it can be of benefit to them," she encouraged.

The programme is administered by the Local Community Development Committees, which will publish details on how to apply, as well as the closing date for applications, shortly.
