The late Nola Flynn (nee Browne).

Death of popular Belturbet publican

Communities on both sides of the River Erne in the town of Belturbet are mourning the passing of popular local publican Nola Flynn (neé Browne).

Ms Flynn (93) passed away peacefully earlier this week, Monday, June 22, in care of staff at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.

A native of Ballivor in Co Meath, Ms Flynn took over the running of what was previously known as the Kilconny Inn, now Flynn’s bar, with her late husband John almost 53 years ago. The business continues to be run by their son John Gerard.

Ms Flynn will be remembered most for her fondness of Irish traditional music, and the warmth with which she greeted all customers who came through the doors.

She is predeceased by her late husband John. Ms Flynn is survived by her sons John Gerard and Christopher; daughters-in-law; nieces and nephews; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; relatives and many, many friends.

She will be laid to rest following funeral mass at Staghall Church this coming Thursday, June 25, at 2pm.

Mass will be live streamed, and due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, Ms Flynn’s funeral will be private to family only.
