Derby fireworks? Cavan and Monaghan to clash on Halloween weekend

GAA confirm Master Fixtures plan

Cavan will meet Monaghan in the Ulster SFC on Halloween weekend, it has been confirmed following the release of the GAA’s revised Master Fixtures Plan at Croke Park earlier today.

The Ulster SFC preliminary round and quarter-finals are down for decision on the weekend of October 31-November 1; although no specific fixture details were confirmed, Cavan were due to meet their local rivals at St Tiernach’s Park, Clones.

However, there will be no second chances this year, with the championship to be run on a straight knock-out format. The All-Ireland final will take place in mid December (December 19), as revealed by The Anglo-Celt on May 28 last.

The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final will take place the previous week, Sunday December 13.

Cavan have two remaining matches in the National League, against Kildare away and Roscommon at home, and these will now be played on the weekends of October 17-18 and 24-25 respectively.

New York will not be involved in the championship this year while London’s involvement is dependent on travel restrictions from the UK.

All matches will be finished on the day, including the All-Ireland finals, with extra time and penalty shoot-outs used if needed.
