Outages caused following last night's storms

Fixes to systems in Ballinagh and near Moyne expected around lunchtime today

It is estimated that around 200 local electricity customers are without power this morning following faults caused during last night's lightning storms.

A fault identified in the system in Ballinagh is expected to be fixed by around midday, according to the ESB Network's online PowerCheck mapping system.

There are presently 106 customers in the local area affected.

The other outage is at Legga in Longford, near Arvagh, where there are 44 customers affected.

The fault there was first reported at around 1:40am at the height of the storms.

A fix to the system in that area is not expected to be implemented until around 1pm.

Electricity distribution networks can suffer damage from storms.

Excess surface water can flood underground electricity cable vaults and cause damage.
