Help for musicians to buy instruments
Musicians and performing groups across Ireland are being encouraged to apply for funding through the Music Network Music Capital Scheme, with €500,000 available to support the purchase of musical instruments and related equipment.
Funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, the scheme offers three awards for non-professional performing groups, established professional musicians and emerging professional musicians.
The application deadline is Tuesday, December 15, 2pm.
Among the successful Cavan recipients in the 2025 scheme were Cootehill Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Ensemble 32, Mammoth Street Band, and musicians Holly Chilton and Zoran Donohoe, who benefited from more than €20,000 in total funding to support their musical development and performance activities.
Established in 2008 the scheme has made 850 awards to musicians and organisations nationwide, providing access to instruments for more than 70,000 people.
Music Network will provide a range of free supports for applicants, including online information sessions, seminars, one-to-one consultations and in-person events across the country. Particular emphasis will be placed on assisting first-time and previously unsuccessful applicants.
