ClubSpot Founder John Hyland and Advisor Bernard Jackman, were on hand with Susan Brady (Cavan PRO), Kieran Callaghan (Cavan County Board Chairperson), and Padraig Faulkner (Cavan Senior Footballer) today to announce the application’s latest initiative which will see digital tickets rolled out for all club games in Cavan this year.

New app allows for contactless ticketing for club championship

Gowna man John Hyland behind new venture

Supporters of clubs in Cavan will have the oppportunity to pre-purchase tickets online for club championship matches through a newly-developed app.

ClubSpot, a club management application founded by Gowna man John Hyland along with advisor and investor Bernard Jackman, yesterday launched their online digital ticketing system in conjunction with Cavan GAA for all club games due to throw in at the end of July.

Former Irish rugby international Jackman, along with Hyland, has worked extensively with Cavan GAA to launch the e-ticketing system which will take all handling of physical money away from the club gates. ClubSpot tickets will allow for spectators to have a contactless entry to sporting events.

The move comes to instil confidence in the spectator as they re-enter club grounds for the first-time post COVID-19. The move will assist clubs in maintaining social distancing and adhering to the government's recommended guidelines for a safe 2m distance at all times.

The latest contactless ticketing system allows spectators to purchase a ticket online via the Cavan GAA app which will then be used to access club games around the county. To gain access, a supporter will simply present their e-ticket at a club gate where a steward on the gate will scan the ticket using their smartphone to allow access.

The in-app digital ticketing service comes in partnership with Tixserve, an experienced digital ticketing provider who can boast stadiums such as Twickenham among their customers. Tickets can easily be saved to a phone and can be scanned at venues without the need for Wi-Fi or mobile data.

The latest technology will ensure that grassroots sport can now comply with social distancing measures, reduce the incidences of close contact for fans attending events, and also reduce the high volumes of cash being taken in at the gate during these events.

Commenting on ClubSpot’s latest innovation Bernard Jackman said: “With any new technology or start-up it's important to continue adding new features that make life easier for our clients and the introduction of our digital ticketing solution is another brilliant addition to the ClubSport offering. We hope that this agreement with Cavan GAA is the first of many similar arrangements in the near future.”

Founder John Hyland commented: “ClubSpot are delighted to help Cavan GAA provide a simple and safe solution for the return of fans for their upcoming Club Championships.”
