Buggle wins first 'Major' of 2020 at Virginia GC

The first 'Major' of the local golfing year took place last weekend in Virginia Golf Club with the playing of Mr Tom Hutchinson’s President’s Prize.

In all, an impressive 87 players took part in Saturday's 18-hole qualifier with the top 27 making it through to a nine-hole play-off on Sunday evening.

"On a golf course that was a credit to the Course Convenor, Victor and Greenkeepers Brian and Peter, a good test was had on the field," stated club PRO Peadar Gill.

In the end, Dubliner Ciaran Buggle (pictured with Tom Hutchinson), with a level par 32 shots (Gross) in the playoff, added to his Qualifier Nett 64, prevailed to take the honours. Full list of prize-winners will be available at the presentation night which will be held at a suitable time and date in the near future.
