Weather: More changeable but mild conditions forecast

There may be some short sunny spells in some southern parts this morning but overall the day will be mostly cloudy with some patchy drizzle at times near the north coast. Mostly dry elsewhere until evening when some rain is likely further inland. The latest weather forecast from Met Éireann as of 6am is predicting highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius in moderate southwesterly breezes, fresh on the coast.

The national weather forecaster says tonight will be mild, cloudy and misty with spells of rain, mostly in northern areas early in the night, but becoming widespread later. Overnight lows of 11 or 12 degrees Celsius in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.

Both the pollen count and solar UV index are moderate today (Tuesday).

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is set to be mild and humid, with spells of rain, persistent and locally heavy in places early in the day, but becoming more scattered during the afternoon and evening, with better drier, brighter periods developing. Afternoon temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees Celsius in moderate, fresh on the coast, southwest breezes.

The summary for the national outlook is for more changeable but mild weather conditions with temperatures around normal or slightly above in southern areas.

Wednesday night is promised very mild, humid and close with spells of rain in places and generally misty murky conditions, but the rain will tend to clear southwards later in the night. Overnight lows of 11 to 14 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead to Thursday, it's set to be rather cloudy and misty in places early on but the day will brighten up well with sunny spells developing and some scattered showers. Light west to northwest breezes and afternoon temperatures of 17 or 18 degrees in northern areas but 19 to 21 degrees Celsius elsewhere.

Mostly dry overnight in lows of 7 to 12 degrees Celsius, coolest in northern counties.

A dry bright start is forecast for Friday with sunny spells but thickening cloud will bring rain through western counties during the afternoon heavy in places and elsewhere in the evening or early Friday night. Highs of 18 to 21 degrees in freshening southerly breezes.

Current indications for the weekend are for changeable weather. There will be showers at times, but some dry bright periods as well with some sunny spells and afternoon temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees Celsius on Saturday in moderate westerly winds, fresher winds on Sunday with highs of 16 to 19 degrees.
