Meeting tonight to finalise arrangements for club championships
Management of the eagerly-anticipated Cavan Club Football Championships will be discussed at a meeting of senior local GAA figures tonight.
The County Management Committee will convene tonight to finalise the general regulations, ticketing policy and hosting procedures in place for championship games. It is understood that clubs will be notified of the guidance tonight.
The Senior Club Championships get underway on Friday evening with Gowna taking on Ramor; while the Intermediate Championship throws-in at the same time with Drumgoon facing Killinkere.
The only thing more hotly contested than the games will be the demand for match tickets as under HSE and Government guidelines attendance is currently restricted to 200. Given that this number is inclusive of players, team management, officials and match day stewards, in effect the reducing the capacity to just 100 spectators; 50 from each club.
It's possible that the crowd capacity problems will be resolved in many instances with the proposed increase in attendance for outdoor events on August 10. By that stage three rounds of group matches in the senior championship will have been completed.
