Threat of thunder before sun breaks through

Highest temperatures will range 17 to 21 degrees Celsius, warmest away from Atlantic coasts

Friday will start with scattered outbreaks of rain, and possibly some thundery bursts before its predicted that sunny spells will begin breaking through.

National weather forecaster Met Eireann says while it will become sunny across much of the western half of the country before noon, showery rain will persist for a time this afternoon across east and northeast counties.

“Becoming dry and sunny in most areas later. Highest temperatures will range 17 to 21 degrees Celsius, warmest away from Atlantic coasts. Moderate southerly breezes will veer westerly and ease through the day.”

The brighter conditions with sunny spells in the afternoon will continue into the evening when conditions will remain dry, calm and mostly clear tonight with lowest temperatures ranging 5 to 9 degrees. “Some mist and fog setting in later.”
