Challenge launched in memory of Craig Lynch

Craig Lynch for Life Challenge

It is now almost a year since international athlete Craig Lynch was killed in a road accident outside Kells. He was 29.

His death was an immeasurable loss to his family, his community in Shercock and his many friends in the sport of athletics at home and abroad.

Now the Lynch family have launched the Craig Lynch For Life Challenge in his memory with the aim of celebrating Craig’s life for each of the thirty days of September, in what would otherwise have been his thirtieth year.

Each participant is challenged to #Find your 30 – aiming to engage in some activity for each day in September – through walking, running, cycling, swimming, yoga, dancing, indeed any activity they wish.

The family has set up a Facebook group, the Craig Lynch For Life Challenge, which since launching just over a week ago has already attracted more than 1,800 members, rising rapidly. The Facebook page will be updated daily through September with people’s memories of Craig, featuring photos, videos and stories from his life.

Each participant is invited to donate €30 to the fundraiser, which will go towards the construction of a new indoor facility at Shercock Athletic Club. The track was like a second home for Craig throughout his life and the family feels that this will be a fitting tribute to his memory.

The Lynch family will lead the way, taking up the challenge of completing thirty laps of the athletic track in Shercock on each of the thirty days. They want to invite supporters to join them each day if they can, though there is no limit to where you can pursue your personal challenge, on or off track.

Supporters can donate through Shercock Credit Union, online through GoFundMe here or by directly contacting the Lynch family.
