Met Eireann predict “disturbed picture”.

Met Eireann have described the weather for the coming week as “a very disturbed picture”, but especially so Monday night and Tuesday. There are some indications of quieter if cool conditions over next weekend.

The weather service have issued an environmental warning that weather conditions favourable to the spread of Potato Blight will continue across much of Ireland for much of the coming week.

Today will be cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain and some heavy bursts are likely at times. Some drier periods as well especially in southern parts of the province. Cool in afternoon temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees Celsius and moderate northerly breezes falling off light later

A few showers overnight but mostly dry with a mix of cloud and clear periods. Mist and fog patches developing as winds will be light variable. Cooler than recent night with lows of 6 to 9 degrees Celsius.

Monday will be a mostly dry and bright with just the odd shower here and there. Winds mostly light and afternoon temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees Celsius.

Pollen will be at a generally low risk for a few days due to rain, showers and high humidity. Fungal spores will be moderate during drier spells but fall to low during prolonged heavy rain.

Weed pollen risk will rise to moderate during good weather. Main types now include: mugwort (mainly in Eastern fringes of the country); nettle; pellitory-of-the-wall (mainly in the south); plantain and fat hen.

A wide range of spores are now airborne, rising to a high risk during warm, sunny weather or during warm, humid weather. Key types triggering symptoms are: Alternaria, Cladosporium, Epicoccum, Didymella and basidiospores.
