Second day with no new local cases

Of the new 42 cases, 20 are men and 22 are women, with 71% are under 45 years of age.

The latest update from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre on the spread of Covid has shown, for the second day in a row, no new cases in either Cavan or Monaghan.

The update, published yesterday evening (Sunday) stated that as of midnight Saturday, August 29, the HPSC had been notified of 42 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

They include 24 in Dublin, 6 in Limerick, and the remaining 12 are located in Carlow, Clare, Galway, Kildare, Longford, Offaly, and Sligo.

There is now a total of 28,760 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

There were no new reported deaths, and the total of COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland remains at 1,777.

A total of 15 are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case, with 6 cases linked to community transmission

The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.
