‘Do Not Consume’ notice for two group water schemes

Consumers served by the Mountainlodge Group Water and the Billis-Lavey Group Water schemes continue to have a ‘Do Not Consume’ restriction in place as the level of Manganese remains above recommended level.

Cavan County Council issued the most recent notice on August 28 stating that the notices remain in place for both schemes.

Consumers are strongly advised to follow the advice set out in the notice issued to customers and to avail of the alternative water sources available at designated locations.

Consumers served by the Mountainlodge Group Water Scheme are now in the eighth week of restrictions. The people of Laragh, Tunnyduff, parts of Poles, and Mountainlodge must rely on alternative sources of water for drinking, cooking food and food preparation.

Following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), Cavan County Council issued the ‘Do Not Consume Notice’ with immediate effect to protect the health of all occupants of this property for those on the Group Water Supply Schemes.

Patrons are advised to use an alternative safe source of drinking water (bottled water) for drinking, preparing drinks made with water, cooking food and for food preparation.

The ‘Do Not Consume’ notice covers brushing of teeth and/or gargling and making ice and people are advised that water from the hot tap of kitchen or bathroom sinks is not safe to drink.

Consumers on the scheme seeking further information should contact Mountainlodge GWS on 087-7656355 Billis-Lavey GWS 087-3274178.
