Blue is the colour for #CavanDay!
Cavan people at home and abroad will create a sea of blue and white on the world wide web for the first-ever Cavan Day, taking place online on Saturday, 26th September!
With large gatherings not currently permitted, Cavan Calling could not take place in 2020, but in true indomitable Cavan spirit, we will celebrate our county virtually, by bringing Cavan people across the globe together to celebrate our mutual friendships, heritage, cultural and sporting connections.
To join in, Cavan people are simply asked to log on to their chosen social network, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, and share a picture of themselves in their county colours, a photo of a favourite place in Cavan, or a treasured memory or story about Cavan – all using the #CavanDay hashtag. If you are a Cavan person living abroad, this is an ideal opportunity to send a message to your loved ones at home. The people of Cavan, like so many around the world, have shown great resilience through these trying times, and #CavanDay is a chance to share some positivity about our beloved county and its people.
Local businesses can also take the opportunity to promote their wares on the #CavanDay hashtag – this day is all about promoting Cavan and bringing Cavan people together, so why not take the opportunity to #ShopLocal and support a Cavan business?
On the day, a special Cavan Day TV show will be broadcast on Facebook, YouTube and on Cavan TV, where some of Cavan’s most notable figures in the world of food, sport, entertainment, and business will be interviewed, and members of the Cavan Diaspora will send their greetings from all corners of the globe. Directed by gifted Virginia film-maker Alan Bradley (Director of RTÉ Seán Boylan and Virginia Show documentaries) and presented by Louise O’Reilly, this magazine-style show will be a must-see for Cavan people everywhere.
