Gardaí in Arva detained the quad being driven on the public road by the 13 year old, who was accompanied by a younger sibling, “neither of whom were wearing a helmet”.

It was one of several incidents where gardaí seized vehicles.

The Cavan Roads Policing Unit continue to detain vehicles and take them off our roads as some drivers still drive without insurance.

One of the more recent involved a car being driven without insurance, NCT or tax.

“It is up to each and everyone of us to play our part in making our roads safer whether by reducing our speeds, not driving while under the influence or by simply showing good example,” said a garda spokesperson.
