Heavy showers will cause spot flooding today

Generally dull and breezy today with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle to begin. The latest weather forecast from Met Éireann says some very heavy bursts will lead to spot flooding. Whilst it will dry up in most inland areas this afternoon, intermittent rain and drizzle will persist across Atlantic counties, especially along the coast. Humid, with hill and coastal fog, but rather warm where sunny spells break through. Highest temperatures 16 to 18 or 19 degrees Celsius, warmest further east. West to southwest winds will be mostly moderate to fresh in strength.

The national weather forecaster says tonight will be very mild and humid with patchy rain and drizzle, mainly affecting Atlantic counties, especially later tonight. Misty with hill and coastal fog too. Lowest temperatures 12 to 14 degrees Celsius, in light to moderate west to southwest breezes.

The forecast for tomorrow is for scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will, which continue to affect Atlantic counties on Tuesday, heaviest along the coast. Drier elsewhere, outside of patchy drizzle, and warm where sunshine develops. Humid, again with hill and coastal fog. Highest temperatures ranging 17 to 21 degrees Celsius (west to east). Moderate southwest breezes will be fresher near coasts.

The national outlook is for fresher weather but with a lot of dry weather overall.

Tomorrow night scattered outbreaks of rain will move eastwards from the Atlantic, followed by drier conditions. Lowest temperatures 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, in mostly light to moderate westerly breezes.

Wednesday is promised dry with a mix of cloud and some sunny spells - just isolated showers. Fresher in moderate, occasionally fresh northwest winds. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees Celsius, mildest in the southeast. Chilly overnight with lowest temperatures 5 to 9 degrees Celsius and light westerly breezes.

Most areas should say dry on Thursday once again with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Cooler though with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees Celsius, in light southwest breezes.

Friday: Wet across Ulster and Connacht to begin, with rainfall extending to other areas during the day, though turning scattered. Highest temperatures 15 to 18 degrees Celsius, mildest and driest in the southeast.

Current indications suggest next weekend will bring a lot of dry weather with mild spells of sunshine and southerly breezes.
