Green light for Shamrocks

Cootehill GAA club Kill Shamrocks have been granted planning permission by Cavan County Council to progress with development works that will see a significant upgrade to the clubs facilities.

The club have been granted permission to erect six 12m high columns with cowled flood lights, 18 six metre walkway lights, two 13m high ball stops and a 2.4m high perimeter fencing around the training pitch.

The permission for the work at Cornabraher, Tullyvin, Cootehill, Co Cavan is subject to nine conditions. The local authority planners stipulated that the work must be carried out in accordance with plans submitted, the submission of a landscape plan, retention of 'sound trees', use of native vegetation, the lights do not cause glare to users of the public road, considerations regarding surface water and the maintenance of a buffer zone from drains and watercourses.

The application was received in mid July with the local authority reaching its decision on Monday last (September 8).
