'Blayney school to add two new ASD rooms

The announcement was also welcomed locally by Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth.

Castleblayney College has received approval of funding for the provision of two new additional base classrooms to support our students with Autism.

The school got word of the approval this week from the Department of Education.

'We are delighted to confirm that our application for the provision of 2 additional base classrooms to support our students with Autism has been APPROVED', the school tweeted.

In a follow up post online, the school added: 'It is a wonderful endorsement of the efforts of all in #CBC & @CavMonETB in delivering an inclusive & equitable school that is proud to serve our local community'.

The announcement was also welcomed locally by Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth.

Like the school itself, she too thanked Minister Norma Foley TD, her Department Officials afor their work in processing this application.

““The Programme for Government commits to supporting continued investment in our special needs assistants and ensuring every student gets the right assistance at the right time, building on the learnings from the pilot currently underway,” said the local deputy.

“The approval of the two new classrooms at Castleblayney is another small step in fulfilling these commitments over the lifetime of this new Government.”
