Chance of flooding as yellow rainfall warning remains valid

A status yellow rainfall warning for much of the country, including Cavan and Monaghan will continue until 3pm this afternoon, with risk of flooding forecast by Met Éireann.

Today's forecast for Ulster is for persistent rain continuing this evening in fresh to strong south to southeast winds. The rain will be heavy in some areas with a risk of localised flooding, and a heightened risk of flash flooding in mountainous regions.

Further spells of heavy rain developing overnight with a continued risk of localised flooding. The rain will clear northwards later in the night with some clear spells developing. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees. Fresh to strong southeasterly winds easing somewhat towards morning.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Tuesday, will begin mostly dry but showery outbreaks of rain will move northwards during the afternoon. Further heavy downpours are expected with isolated thunderstorms and a risk of localised flooding. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds strengthening through the day.
