Cavan Team Movember fundraiser tops €17K

Members of the Cavan senior team, who are playing in the All-Ireland semi final in Croke Park on Saturday against Dublin, have raised over €17,000 through their Movember fundraiser.

Money was still pouring in as the paper went to press yesterday afternoon.

This Movember fundraiser is raising funds for some local charities in Cavan including Friends of Cavan Oncology, Sosad Cavan and Pieta House and the organiser is Niall Murray.

It has a target of €16,000 but funds are still rolling in. You can donate by clicking here.

The players are growing moustaches to raise awareness for cancer and mental health, as both of these illnesses have had an impact within the panel and the wider GAA community in Cavan in recent times. Any donation (large or small), to these great charities, is greatly appreciated.

St Patrick's College Student Wellbeing Committee will run a 'jersey day' on Friday, December 4, to support the players.

Fourteen members of the Cavan squad are former pupils of St Pat's.

The jersey day is €2 for students to display their team colours on the day before the Cavan v Dublin All-Ireland semi final.
