Krafty Kidz Ballyconnell takes over CAMCAS premises

Krafty Kidz Childcare in Ballyconnell has acquired the former CAMCAS premises in the west Cavan town to enhance its pre-school and after school services and has also pledged to actively explore the roll out of innovative community development activities from the facility.

Cavan and Monaghan Community Area Services (CAMCAS) had traded as a not-for-profit company providing community services since 2002 but will cease trading from December 31.

Krafty Kidz community childcare facility has been operating since 1998, also on a not-for-profit basis, and will be taking over the operations in January 2021.

The company’s site at Daisy Hill in Ballyconnell has undergone significant development over the years. The Board of CAMCAS was keen to ensure that the facilities and services would not be lost to the local community and have agreed terms of sale with Krafty Kidz.

The CAMCAS Board also wishes the new owners every success in the years ahead with their new venture.

"We have been working with CAMCAS for several years and had secured planning permission on the bungalow on the site at the start of 2020 with the intention of having additional pre-school and after-school facilities up and running in September," said Krafty Kidz manager Annette Coyle.

"In recent years we have seen a huge increase in demand for our affordable and high-quality childcare services and we simply have not been able to meet the demand for places. We are very excited about acquiring these fantastic facilities and the endless opportunities this will give our children and families and the wider community."

Krafty Kidz chairperson Ciaran McManus, who was in fact born in the bungalow on the Daisy Hill site, which was at that time being used as a doctor’s surgery, was also delighted to see the facilities remain in use for the local community.

"This will ensure that local people continue to benefit from the services provided and give us the opportunity not only to expand our excellent childcare centre but to develop our community development activities too. We look forward to working with local groups and individuals on future projects," he said.
