Scattered wintry showers forecast

Highest temperatures of just 2 to 4 degrees with a light to moderate westerly breeze are expected.

National weather service Met Eireann is forecasting that scattered wintry showers will hit the region later today.

With a cold start expected, the wintry showers expected will become more isolated through the afternoon with good sunny spells developing.

“A more organised band of rain will approach the northwest tomorrow night falling as sleet and snow as it extends eastwards.”

Highest temperatures of just 2 to 4 degrees with a light to moderate westerly breeze are expected.

Saturday night meanwhile will continue to be cold with a band of "sleet and snow” in the west moving eastwards across the country, leading with accumulations in many areas.

“The rain, sleet and snow will gradually clear into the Irish Sea towards morning. Frost and ice will develop as it clears, with lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees in a light breeze.”
