Over 30 new Covid cases in Cavan reported today

The authorities reported a relatively high number of Covid-19 cases in Cavan today. The National Public Health Emergency Team were today notified of 829 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of midnight, Sunday, February 7.

Of those new cases, 32 were detected in County Cavan, while 12 were reported in County Monaghan. Monaghan's 14 day average per 100,000 stands at 692.3, which is still over double the national average of 326.9; while Cavan's is 283.6.

There were also six additional deaths related to COVID-19 reported to the authorities today; five of which occurred in February, and one occurred in January. The median age of those who died was 84 years and the age range was 75-95 years.

As of 8am today, 1,212 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 176 are in ICU. 39 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of February 5, 230,776 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the Republic of Ireland: 151,212 people have received their first dose; 79,554 people have received their second dose.
