Warning for dog owners ahead of lambing season

Gardaí are appealing to all dog owners to ensure their dogs are kept under control and not allowed to roam.

The warning is of particular importance at night, and following received reports of sheep being attacked by dogs in the Clones area.

Gardaí in Monaghan are currently investigating the matter.

This time last year reports also emerged of such incidents in the Ballyjamesduff and Virginia area, resulting in either death or injury to the animals concerned.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Monaghan are seeking assistance regarding a theft that occurred in the Drumcaw area between 3:30pm on February 9 and 11am on February 10.

The theft involved the taking of 200 metres of umbilical slurry pipe.
