Major wall collapse in Cootehill

Traffic is down to one lane on the Shercock side of Cootehill, following the collapse of a wall on the grounds of the old workhouse yesterday evening.

It was fortunate that nobody sustained injuries following the collapse of the major wall, the debris from which slid on to the roadway between the mart and the Comprehensive school.

The local fire brigade and County Council staff were quickly on the scene to take control of the situation. Traffic control measures were put in place

The slide was also close to the grotto, which is a well known location in the town.

Motorists and walkers are advised to continue to exercise caution.
