Cavan's Leona Maguire has continued her bright start to the year as she sits six shots off the lead in a tie for sixth place after the opening two days of the LPGA Drive On Championship.

Maguire carded five birdies and two bogeys in a three-under-par 69 at Golden Ocala Golf Club in Florida on Thursday and had three birdies in a one-under 71 yesterday to remain in contention for a maiden win on tour.

The American duo of Jennifer Kupcho and Austin Ernst set the pace on 10-under, two ahead of Spain’s Solheim Cup star Carlota Ciganda, who shot 65.

Fourth-placed Korda is looking to claim back-to-back wins and make it a family treble after following her sister into the winner’s circle with victory in the Gainbridge LPGA event last week.

The 22-year-old’s older sister Jessica won the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions in January, meaning the Kordas joined Annika and Charlotta Sorenstam as sisters to win consecutive events on the LPGA Tour.
