Status Yellow wind warning

A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Ireland. The alert covers tomorrow (Wednesday) and into Thursday morning.

The forecaster predicted: “Very windy from Wednesday afternoon through until Thursday morning. Southwest winds, veering westerly will gust 90 to 110km/h generally, higher at times on hills and coasts in the south and west with a risk of some wave overtopping.”

The warning comes into effect at midday tomorrow and will remain in operation until 7am on Thursday.

Met Éireann say that persistent rain will spread eastwards this morning and extend to all areas during the afternoon along with increasingly strong southerly winds, which will reach close to gale force near coasts.
