25 jobs to be created with new Aldi store

The new store will be constructed in Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design. Planning has been applied for with Cavan County Council.

Aldi Ireland has announced it will be bringing the best prices in Irish retail and up to 25 new permanent jobs to Cootehill with plans to open a new store in the town.

An additional 50 jobs will be created during construction of the proposed new store, which will see a substantial investment into the local area.

The exciting news comes as Aldi has submitted a planning application for a new 1,315 sqm store to Cavan County Council.

The new store will be centrally located on Station Road close to Market Street, meaning customers will be able to easily access the best value groceries in Ireland.

The new store will also be environmentally friendly. The store will be powered by 100% green electricity and will feature four electric vehicle charging points outside the store, helping to boost Aldi’s strong sustainability credentials.

The store will be furthermore be constructed in Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design.

Ample parking facilities will be provided on site with 93 car parking spaces available along with 10 bike parking spaces.

Commenting on the move, Donald Mackay, Aldi Regional Managing Director said: “We have been planning to open in Cootehill for some time and are delighted to have identified a site in the town centre.”

Mr Mackay added: “The environmentally friendly store is designed to meet the shopping needs of the local community and will be landscaped to complement the local area.

“We look forward to investing in Cootehill and bringing our award-winning offer to the people of the town.”

Aldi’s existing store in Cavan is on the Dublin Road, Cavan Town.

The store has a national partnership with FoodCloud, donating surplus food to local charities daily. It has donated over 27,000 meals to charity to date. It is also part of Aldi’s Community Grants network, with Cuan Cancer Social Support Centre just of many charities availing of a bursary grant in recent times.
