Hazy sunshine but some drizzle

Weather Update

A dry start this morning with spells of hazy sunshine developing for most but cloud in the west of the province will extend eastwards during the day with some outbreaks of rain or drizzle developing in the west. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees, coolest in the west, in light to moderate southerly winds, fresh at times on western coasts.

Becoming mainly dry tonight with any lingering rain or drizzle in the west clearing away quickly. Occasional clear spells will develop. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees. Light to moderate southerly winds will be fresh at times on Atlantic coasts.

The pollen forecast is high for today and tomorrow, although the solar UV index is low to moderate.

Tomorrow morning, hazy sunshine will be replaced with thickening cloud as outbreaks of rain and drizzle extending over the western half of the province through the day. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees, in moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong along western coasts.

Largely cloudy for the rest of the weekend and early next week with outbreaks of rain and drizzle but accumulations will be fairly minimal in the east and southeast. Drying up from Tuesday to Thursday with high pressure building with mostly fine and settled weather. Current indications suggest that then the high pressure will drift away with rain pushing in from the Atlantic.

On Saturday night some light outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue, a bit more persistent along Atlantic coasts. A milder night than recently, but largely cloudy, with lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees. Mist patches will develop in light to moderate southerly winds, but winds will be fresher along Atlantic coasts.

Sunday is expected to be a mainly dull and cloudy day with light outbreaks of rain and drizzle with some mist patches and some hill and coastal fog lingering for much of the day. Holding mainly dry over much of Leinster and east Ulster though. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees, in light to moderate southerly winds.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue through the night on Sunday and it will stay cloudy. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees. Mist patches along with hill and coastal fog will develop too in mainly light to moderate southerly breezes.

The outlook for Monday is for another mainly dull and cloudy day with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in light to moderate southerly breezes. Drier conditions will develop in the west later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees with a light to moderate northerly breeze setting in.

Rain and drizzle will continue to clear eastwards on Tuesday morning with just some drizzle persisting along eastern and southern coasts during the afternoon. Good sunny spells will develop in the northwest in the afternoon with some evening sunshine for much of Ulster, Connacht and Munster. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes. Mainly dry overnight with just isolated patches of mist and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees generally, but a bit cooler in the northwest, in light northeasterly breezes.

Wednesday is expected to be a mainly dry day with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in light southeasterly breezes.

Further outlook: Temperatures will continue to increase, reaching up to the mid-teens for much of the country. Current indications suggest that high pressure will continue to dominate our weather though with mainly dry and settled conditions with good sunshine at times.
