Loughanleagh and Muff Heritage discuss plans for area

The five-year development plan focuses on maintaining and improving the quality of present walkways, upgrading existing picnic areas and developing car parking facilities for visitors, to mention but a few objectives.

Loughanleagh & Muff Heritage Trust, a voluntary organisation dedicated to promoting the cultural history and heritage of the area, have outlined their plans to enhance the tourist offering with a local TD.

“I’m delighted to see that this group are actively involved in the development of walkways and trails through this landscape for the local community and the many visitors who wish to explore this hidden treasure,” said Deputy Niamh Smyth after meeting with the local group.

“COVID-19 has given us all a renewed appreciation for our great outdoors,” noted Deputy Smyth. “As part of Our Rural Future, the Government’s ambitious new policy for rural development, I want to see rural Ireland become a destination of choice domestically and internationally for outdoor pursuits.

“This is exactly the kind of active engagement we need on a local level and I'm more than happy to help progress this project in any way I can,” she concluded.
