McCarrens reopens

McCarren meats reopened their factory for business earlier this week. The Cavan town pig processing factory shut down for four days (May 4-7) in response to an outbreak of Covid-19 at the facility. McCarren is a part of the Kepak group and employs over 250 people on the site.

A statement from the company confirmed the return to work this week following close liaison with the HSE.

The meat producer outlined their commitment to safe operations: “At Kepak, the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, suppliers and customers is our top priority. As a designated essential service provider, we have remained safely operational throughout the Covid-19 pandemic ensuring that there is an adequate and quality supply of food available to customers and consumers.

“Kepak continues to observe all recommended public health protocols during this pandemic, including comprehensive testing, contact tracing and return to work guidelines.”

It thanked staff and suppliers for their support.
