Mostly dry and sunny weather in the days ahead

Weather Update

A good deal of dry weather over the coming days, though there will be some rain and showers at times with the driest conditions on Sunday. Mild in the sunshine, with temperatures around average for the time of year.

Mist and fog will clear away quickly this morning. Generally cloudy with some scattered showers, mainly in the west. Good sunny spells will develop, mainly over the eastern half of the country through the morning. However, showers will extend further east during the day but many parts of the midlands and east will stay largely dry. Highest temperatures ranging from 14 in the south to 20 degrees in the north. Becoming breezy as moderate to fresh southerly winds develop, strong at times in coastal areas.

Mainly dry over the eastern half of the country tonight with clear spells and just isolated showers possible. Cloudier further west with scattered showers, mainly along western and northwestern coasts but becoming more isolated through the night. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds, though fresher along Atlantic coasts.

A mostly dry start tomorrow (Friday) with sunny spells but cloud will thicken from the west with outbreaks of rain developing, mainly confined to Atlantic coastal counties during the day. Holding drier further east with some afternoon sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees, though staying slightly cooler in the west and southwest. Moderate to fresh southerly winds will ease during the evening.

A mainly cloudy night on Friday with light outbreaks of rain and drizzle over the western half of the country. Staying mostly dry further east with the best of the clear spells in the northeast. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light southerly breezes with mist patches developing along with hill and coastal fog.

Some scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly over Ulster, the midlands and north Leinster will gradually clear through Saturday morning and afternoon, with dry and sunny conditions extending from the west. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, mildest in the east. Light to moderate southwesterly breezes will veer westerly in the clearance from the rain.

Saturday night is expected to be dry and clear with mist and fog patches developing. Cooler than previous nights with lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in light westerly breezes.

A largely dry day is forecast for Sunday, with isolated showers and sunny spells. Feeling pleasant with highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in light breezes. Staying dry overnight with clear spells though there's a possibility of some dense fog developing in light southeasterly or variable breezes. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

Bank Holiday Monday: Mist and fog will clear away quickly for a dry morning with sunny spells. But cloud will push in from the Atlantic with scattered showers developing, with the driest conditions in the east. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds. Becoming largely dry overnight with lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light breezes.

Current indications suggest that there will be some rain and showers at times next week but a good deal of dry weather too. Temperatures are expected to increase through the week, reaching high teens or low twenties.
