It is with regret that we note the deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

John Brodie

Virginia, Cavan

John Brodie, The Wood, Rahardrum, Virginia, Co. Cavan and formerly Ryefield, Virginia, Co. Cavan, 20 June 2021, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. A much loved and cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Anne, his children Shane, Mark, Mary, Owen, Hugh and Donagh, son in law Paul Jordan, daughters in law Catherine, Valerie, RoseMary, Sarah and ClaireAnne and his adored grandchildren- Sean, Ciara, Diarmuid, Áine, Marie Claire, Des, Iseult, Tom, Cliona, Imogen, Lochlann, Megan, Luke, Niamh, Adam, Lucy, Lily, Tom and James, his sisters in law Marie and Pauline, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Rest In Peace.

Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 11 o’clock in Mary Immaculate Church Virginia with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. John’s Funeral Mass may be viewed on https://www.churchtv.ie/cavan and scroll to Virginia or tune into 105.8fm.

House strictly private at all times.

At the request of the family, John’s Funeral Mass and burial will be strictly private to family only.

The Brodie family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care and support of Dr Igoe and the team at Virginia Primary Care.

No flowers by request. Donations in lieu if so desired to Virginia Cancer Care Fund c/o Matthews Funeral Directors.

People may form a guard of honour along the route of the Funeral cortege from Rahardrum to Mary Immaculate Church as a mark of respect. However, the family respectfully ask that those doing so acknowledge social distancing at all times.

Joe McGarry, Barrack Road, Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan, Died Sunday June 20th.

Sadly missed by his wife Rose, sister-in-law Sr. Bernadette, brother-in-law Matthew, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Briody's Funeral Home, Kilnaleck on Monday evening from 7pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday in St. Patrick's Church, Kilnaleck at 11am. Interment afterwards in St. Mary's Cemetery Castlerahan. In line with current Government and HSE guidelines the funeral mass will be limited to 50 people. Please adhere to social distancing at all times.

Ellen (Ellie) McKenna

Aidken Cappagh, Ballinode, Monaghan

Ellen (Ellie) McKenna, Aidken Cappagh, Ballinode, Co Monaghan, 20th June, 2021, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her husband Xavier, son Aidan and daughter Frances, RIP.

Sadly missed by her children Kay (Kathleen) Byrne, Eileen Downey, Agatha Stacey, Marita Hopkinson, Monica Hendry, Xavier, sons in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and family circle.

Ellen’s remains are reposing at her family home and wake and funeral will be in keeping with HSE / government guidelines.

Removal on Wednesday 23rd June at 10.15am for 11.00am Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Urbleshanney. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Margaret McAree (née Wilson)

Killabough, Tydavnet, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Margaret McAree (nee Wilson), Killabough, Tydavnet, Co. Monaghan, Sunday 20th June, peacefully, at Drumbear Nursing Home, Monaghan surrounded by her loving family. Pre-deceased by her husband James. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary & son Raymond (Louise), grandchildren Conor & Aoibheann, brother Mick Wilson, sister Patricia McCabe, extended family and friends.

May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Margaret's remains will repose at McMahon's Funeral Home, Emyvale, H18 FK80 on Monday from 6pm - 8pm.
