Weather: High of 24 degrees forecast in Cavan next Thursday

After some heavy showers on Thursday, the county will bask in fine weather in the coming days.

It will be mostly dry today with some sunny spells and just the small chance of a few passing showers. Top temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate north to northeast breezes which will be fresh at the coast.

It'll be generally dry overnight with clear spells and just the small chance of a light shower. Minimum temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.

Sunday will bring plenty of dry weather with spells of sunshine and varying amounts of cloud. Maximum afternoon temperatures will range from around 17 to 20 degrees in moderate northeast breezes.

Nationally, lots of dry weather is expected as high pressure dominates.

Sunday night will be largely dry across the country with clear spells and just a few well-scattered showers. Minimum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.

On Monday most of the country will be dry with spells of warm sunshine. There is just the chance of a few showers moving in from the Irish Sea to affect south-eastern counties. Maximum afternoon temperatures will range 18 to 22 degrees generally but cooler at the coast due to brisk onshore breezes. Mostly dry on Monday night with clear spells and lows of 9 to 12 degrees.

Temperatures will be above 20 degrees for the remainder of the week with a high of 24 degrees in Cavan on Thursday.
