Making your home more accessible

Older people or those with disabilities are being urged to consider home improvements to make their homes more accessible, ensure a good quality of life and promote independent living. Substantial grant aid may also be available to help cover the cost of works.

Homecare Adaption and Construction Company specialises in adapting homes for senior citizens and people with disabilities.

They pride themselves on being the experts when it comes to the most cost effective and best fit solutions to adapt your home to your changing requirements.

Michael John O’Donoghue is a director of the Belturbet-based Homecare Adaption and Construction Ltd. He explained: "We specialise in carrying out home repairs and adaptations both privately and by county council grant funding. We offer expert advice on the most cost effective and best fit solutions to adapt your home to meet those changing needs."

Grant funding of up to 95% is available to assist those who qualify to make changes to their home to make it more suitable for a person with a physical, sensory or intellectual disability or mental health difficulty.

Homecare Adaption and Construction offers a free home survey and assistance with all aspects of the grant application.

"We liaise with the homeowner, their family, public health nurses, occupational therapists and social workers when requested, to enhance and improve living standards for individuals, who find themselves faced with challenging needs. The priority is to ensure that the needs of the client are fully met," said Mr O’Donoghue.
