Patchy rain and hazy sunny spells on the radar today

Weather Update

Mostly cloudy today with patchy outbreaks of rain in the north this morning. Generally drier further south with well scattered showers and a few hazy sunny spells. However a band of rain will move into the southwest later this morning, reaching much of Munster by this afternoon and extending across south Leinster this evening, turning heavy at times in the south and southeast. Highs of 16 to 19 degrees, in a light to moderate northwesterly breeze.

Rain lingering in the east and southeast for much of tonight, clearing towards dawn. Mostly dry early tonight through the middle of the country but showers in the north and west will move eastwards to remaining areas overnight. Lows of 9 to 13 degrees, in a light to moderate westerly breeze.

A mix of showers and sunny spells on Friday, the showers heavy at times. Cloud will build from the west, bringing a more general area of rain into the west and southwest through the afternoon and evening, with showers easing elsewhere. Highs of 16 to 19 or 20 degrees, warmest in the east in a light to moderate westerly breeze.

Showers will become confined to Atlantic coasts and the southwest early on Friday night with some mist and fog patches developing, in a light westerly breeze. A mild night with temperatures not dropping below 10 to 13 degrees.

Mostly dry over the bank holiday weekend. Rather cloudy, but with some warm sunshine at times. Temperatures holding around normal for early August.

A generally cloudy start on Saturday with some light showers. The showers more frequent through the afternoon but they will ease by evening time with some nice spells of sunshine developing. Highs of 17 to 20 degrees in a light northwesterly breeze.

Mainly dry Saturday night with clear spells and just isolated showers near north and west coasts. Lows of 9 to 12 degrees in light winds.

A lot of cloud about on Sunday morning with well scattered showers. Mostly dry through the afternoon with some bright spells developing. The best of the sunshine will be towards evening. Highs of 16 to 19 degrees, in a light northerly breeze.

Generally dry with clear spells on Sunday night with showers just skirting eastern and western coasts in a northerly breeze. Slightly cooler with lows of 8 to 11 degrees.

Mostly dry on Bank Holiday Monday with sunny spells, but there will be a few scattered light showers too. Highs of 17 to 20 degrees, in a light northerly breeze.

Current indications suggest Tuesday will remain mostly dry, with rain pushing in from the west Tuesday night. Then staying unsettled through Wednesday and Thursday with rain at times. Temperatures continuing around average for early August.
