Weather conditions are set to continue unsettled through the rest of the week, according to the latest weather bulletin from Met Éireann.

Breezy today with a band of rain in the west, heavy in places, moving into the midlands this morning and reaching the east coast by around midday.

Sunny spells will quickly develop in western parts this morning as the rain clears. Brighter and drier weather will follow for all areas through the afternoon, with sunshine and a few stray showers. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees, with fresh southerly winds, strong on some coasts. Winds will moderate and become westerly as rain clears.

Largely dry and clear tonight with just the odd shower. Cloud will build in the west later in the night with rain developing on western coastal fringes at around dawn. Winds will be light and southwesterly to begin, but southerly winds will increase moderate to fresh overnight, becoming strong on Atlantic coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

Tomorrow (Thursday) will be windy with fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds, reaching near gale force on Atlantic coasts with some high seas there also. Rain in western areas during the morning will be heavy at times, but dry elsewhere to begin. Scattered showers mixed with sunny spells will extend to most areas in the afternoon, showers most persistent and heaviest in the west and northwest. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees.

Showers will mainly affect the west and northwest overnight on Thursday with long clear spells elsewhere. Southwest winds will ease to moderate in the south and east, but remain fresh to strong elsewhere with near gale force winds continuing in the far west and northwest. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Friday will be blustery again with fresh southwest winds, strong at times near coastal areas especially in the north and northwest. There will be sunny spells and showers, showers frequent across the west and north with dry spells in the southeast. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.

Winds will gradually ease light to moderate overnight on Friday with showers becoming lighter and confined to western and northern coastal counties. Plenty of clear spells to begin, with cloud thickening in the south later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.

Sunny spells and showers across the northern half of the country on Saturday. Cloudy further south with a spell of persistent rain moving up across Munster throughout the day. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with light to moderate westerly winds.

Outbreaks of rain continuing overnight Saturday, mainly affecting the southern half of the country. Mostly dry further north with clear spells. Light to moderate northerly or variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees under clear skies, holding 12 to 14 degrees in rain.
