Gardaí say they are investigating “all the circumstances” in relation to the incident

Gardaí say they are investigating “all the circumstances” after the body of a man was take from the River Erne yesterday afternoon.

The man, aged in his 50's, was taken from the water at the jetty area in Belturbet shortly after 4pm on Saturday afternoon, August 28.

The man's body was subsequently removed to Cavan General Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana confirmed in a statement: “Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances after a the body of a man in his 50s was taken from the water in Belturbet, shortly after 4pm yesterday afternoon. His body was removed to Cavan General Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place at a later date.”
