Driver using fake licence was disqualified

A car was also stopped in Ballyjamesduff where the driver was found to have no insurance.

A driver will appear before the courts after he was stopped by members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit and found to be using a false driving licence.

The officers further found there was no insurance or NCT on the car in question, and the driver was further found to have been previously disqualified from driving.

“The car in question has been detained and the driver is being charged to be brought before the Courts," a spokesperson confirmed.

Gardaí were also out in the Tullyvin, Shercock, Bailieboro and Kingscourt areas where a number of Fixed Payment Penalty Notices were issued for excessive speed in the 60kmph limits.

A car was also stopped in Ballyjamesduff where the driver was found to have no insurance. The car also had no tax or NCT, and was detained.

In Monaghan meanwhile, gardaí are currently investigating a hit and run road traffic collision on the N12 at Knockaconny.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:15pm on Friday, August 27.

The offending vehicle, a silver-coloured crossover/jeep with a southern registration left scene in the direction of Monaghan Town.
