Belturbet water notice lifted

The Do Not Consume notice in place in Belturbet has been lifted.

The notice was put in place last week after excess levels of manganese were found in the water supply.

Irish Water now says following consultation with the HSE and Cavan County Council the notice can be lifted with immediate effect.

1,986 customers were affected as Irish Water had warned the water could not be consumed.

In a statement this evening, Regional Operations Lead Kevin Smith said the utility “acknowledges and understands the impact” the notice had and has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
